About Human Decency FIRST

Human Decency FIRST is currently a loose grouping of concerned citizens who recognize that the problems in this city are much deeper than what we read in the news day to day.

The organization has no operating funds. It is completely volunteer driven. The choice of becoming a nonprofit is still being discussed. The hindrance is twofold: the cost of incorporation and application for tax exempt status, and the restriction on nonprofits to participate in political activity of any kind.

While not organized as a political action group, it is understood that to effect change, much of the work will have to be done through elected officials. The ability to influence voters and elected officials creates a problem within a nonprofit. The discussion is still ongoing about whether Human Decency FIRST should become the affliliate 501(c)(4) organization of another nonprofit.  

This is a citizen organization. The ideas that will be planned out and worked through should come from citizens, not city or government entities. The ideas should be ideas that benefit groups of people within the city in becoming full citizens of the city, capable of sustaining themselves and their families.

All ideas that will be planned and worked by Human Decency FIRST will be selected on the basis of there being no bias, prejudice or political affiliation associated with the project.
